Issue/Introduction

Sysview Performance Management Option for Db2 for z/OS (IDB2) data collector is consuming about 50% of CPU.
What could be the possible cause(s) of the CPU spike.

 

Resolution

A CPU spike or excessive CPU usage needs to be investigated on case by case basis. In general there are two IDB2 data base exceptions in
the exception system that have extremely high overhead. They are the data base "high space used" and "high number of extents" exceptions.

These exception requests were modified for IDB2 r19 and are quite efficient now but on prior releases the exceptions
should be inactivated if they are causing high CPU usage in the IDB2 data collector.
