Issue/Introduction

Files DDOFILE and DDOFIL2 are defined to the Datacom/DB CICS region. What is their purpose?

Files or data sets DDOFILE and DDOFIL2 are Datacom work files used by online Datadictionary. 

They are VLS files created during the installation of Datacom and are created with low level qualifier names of DDOL1 and DDOL2.

DDOFILE (DDOL1) is the Datadictionary online work file which stores session dependent information over a logical process which can span the processing of several panels of information.

DDOFIL2 (DDOL2) is the Datadictionary online SQL work file which stores the SQL source statements as members in this library.

Additional Information

Although they are work files, they are VLS files and must be created and maintained by VLS utilities. 

Also, each CICS region requires unique DDOFILE and DDOFIL2 files as they cannot be shared by multiple CICS regions.
