Storage Abends Using SYNCSORT with CA Roscoe running under ETSO

Syncsort can take a huge amount of storage and there are specific parameters that have to be used in order to limit the amount of storage

Resolution

1. You must allocate a  DDNAME $ORTPARM to limit Syncsort's storage.
   

   For example,

   //$ORTPARM DD *
   VSCORET=2M        or whatever works in your environment

   It is necessary to test the amount specified for sorting in your environment.

2. Alternatively, put in a STEPLIB for ICEMAN (IBM's sort Utility). 
3. Users can also use the ORDER command to sort data in the AWS.  It is much more efficient for a multi-user environment.
4. Order DSN and order LIB may also be used.
