Issue/Introduction

Identity Portal may experience extended startup times accompanied by warning messages related to JGroup in the server logs. This issue typically occurs in high-availability environments where nodes have been removed or migrated, leaving orphaned data in the JGROUPSPING table.

The following error appears in the logs:

WARN org.jgroups.protocols.pbcast.GMS - ServerName-####: JOIN(ServerName-#####) sent to ServerName-#####2 timed out (after 3000 ms), on try 1

Environment

IDENTITY PORTAL

Cause

Orphaned data persists within the JGROUPSPING database table after node removal or cluster reconfiguration. The product does not automatically clean up this table, leading to connection timeout attempts against non-existent nodes.

Resolution

  1. Stop the Identity Portal service.
  2. Purge all records within the JGROUPSPING table.
  3. Start the Identity Portal service.
  4. Monitor the IP server logs to confirm the error no longer appears.
