CA DADS Plus for CICS open file fails with error message IEC133I ZIPCDS , OPEN FAILED FOR EXTENDED TIOT.

Issue/Introduction

The client has a file define to CA DADS Plus for CICS. The file gets allocated to CICS but when the file is opened it fails with error messages

IEC133I ZIPCDS  , OPEN FAILED FOR EXTENDED TIOT.

Cause

Sequential files and not supported by CA DADS Plus for CICS.

Resolution

Remove the file from CA DADS Plus for CICS control by deleting in from the control file and add a DD to the CICS startup JCL. The CA DADS Plus for CICS User Guide states 

 

As per the CA DADS Plus for CICS Users Guide page 1-3 CA DADS  supports the following files 

Managing Files, DBD's, and Extra partition Data Sets 

“Advantage CA-DADS Plus helps you control all your CICS application data sets, including VSAM(RRDS,ESDS,KSDS,Paths) and BDAM files, DL/I data sets, and transient data queues.”
