The Windows service installed by the CA PAM 2.8 Windows Proxy installer has a service name of "%SERVICE_NAME$", which is obviously not correct.
The service name in previous releases has been correctly cspmagentd instead.
Release: PAMDKT99500-2.8-Privileged Access Manager-NSX API PROXY
The service will work just fine with the bogus name, but we recommend to rename the service using the following procedure. Step 4 is not related to this problem, but recommended for all Windows Proxy installations. The SC commands could be issued using service name %SERVICE_NAME$ if you preferred to leave the service name as is but still wanted to add the dependency and automatic restart options.
1. Install the Windows Proxy
2. Run the following two commands:
reg copy HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\%SERVICE_NAME$ HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\cspmagentd /s /f
reg delete HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\%SERVICE_NAME$ /f
3. Reboot the server
4. Run these two commands to add dependencies and for automatic restart of the service:
sc config cspmagentd depend= lanmanworkstation start= auto
sc failure cspmagentd actions= restart/120000/restart/120000// reset= 120
5. Start the PAM proxy service if not running yet.
CA PAM Engineering is aware of the problem and we expect it to be fixed in the next Windows Proxy installer.
