Why am I getting return code 8 when trying to apply CA Librarian PTF RS90537 to bypass external security?

Environment

Librarian V4.4

Cause

The return code 8 NOGO error message in the SMP/e apply is because the specific emulator used specified the British Sterling pound sign  £ instead of the US pound sign #.

The hexadecimal representation of the  US # is x'7B' and the hexadecimal representation of the British Sterling pound is x'B1', so it did not translate correctly. The CSECT is LVS#SEC for module LVSSECO.

 

Resolution

Run the SMP/e apply using the emulator that uses the US # character and not the British Sterling pound £ character.
