Issue/Introduction

Test Data on Demand (TDoD) service is running, but when we validate the Active Directory credentials through the configuration editor, we get this error:

Service Layer: http://ca.org/GT_I/AuthenticateUser
Operation: AuthenticateUser: The server is not operational

We get the same error when we try connecting to the service layer from Datamaker, Remote Publish configuration editor, Agile Designer, and Javelin.

Environment

CA Test Data Manager
TDM
GT Datamaker
Agile Requirements Designer
Javelin

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Log in to the system using the same domain credentials as referred to in the AD configuration in Datamaker/TDoD configuration editor.
2. Look up the domain for the Active Directory controller using this command from the Windows command prompt: net user <username> /domain
3. The value of this domain then needs to be inserted in the "Domain" field of the TDOD Configuration editor (Authentication tab, authentication mode "Active Directory").

Once the right domain is put in, the "Validate" operation should not give any errors.
Subsequently, connection to the service layer from Datamaker, Javelin, and Agile Requirements Designer should work without issue.

Additional Information

If you are running TDM 4.9.1+ and Agile Requirements Designer 3.1+ the TDoD (GTService) and Remote Publish services have been replaced with the native TDMService service, which is part of the TDM Portal.
Therefore, TDoD and Remote Publish can be disabled, since they are no longer required.
