Issue/Introduction

Not able to to discover Devices on UMP (Discovery Wizard)

Environment

UIM 8.x, 9.x

Cause

If the device do not respond, will not get Discoved

It might be that the broadcast that is being used is blocked by a firewall, for example.

Discovery finds virtually all connected resources on the network and provides detailed information about device type, configuration, and asset/inventory data.

This is done by using ICMP, ARP, DNS, SNMP (v1, v2, and v3), WMI, SSH, and NetBIOS.

Resolution

Ensure that the device is actually reachable from the discovery agent machine on the address (and port if applicable) you are entering in the scope on the USM discovery wizard.
