Issue/Introduction

This document describes a method for increasing the displayable size of the numeric fields in DB-STATISTICS.

Environment

Release: All supported releases.

Resolution

The numeric fields in DB-STATISTICS are defined as such:-

RECORD ELEMENT IS PAGES-READ VERSION 1
*+      LINE IS 000300
*+      LEVEL NUMBER IS 03
        PICTURE IS  S9(8)
        USAGE IS COMP
*+      ELEMENT LENGTH IS 4
*+      POSITION IS 17

This is a four-byte numeric binary field. In a long-running batch job, it is possible that S9(8) may not be enough digits to hold some of the values returned. It is safe to change the definitions from S9(8) to S9(9) - this is still only four bytes so it remains compatible with the control block as provided by IDMS, but it provides one more displayable digit.
