Export to excel fails when exporting the project list

 

Environment

Any CA PPM release

Resolution

Initial troubleshooting if a list view export fails.

Remove as many columns as possible and try the export.

Re-add the columns one by one until you find out where the issue occurs.

It might happen when the start / finish field or any other date field is added

The export error will add similar entries to the log files:

XML ERROR in Table
REASON: Bad Value
FILE: C:\Users\~\Server\Project_List.xls
GROUP: Cell
TAG: Data
VALUE: 0201-12-31
This being the case, proceed as follows:

Through the project list options, go to Configure > List Column Section > Fields

Edit the properties of the field and set the Date/Time Format Scale to Year

Save and Return

On the project list click on the Start column header to order the list based on the year

Check the earliest and latest date.

You might find a start date pointing to year 0201 instead of maybe 2010. Ensure year date is correct and correct any typos.
Correct the wrong dates and set the as appropriate

The export to excel will now work
