Issue/Introduction

The default Dashboard Auto Refresh Rate in Performance Management is set it to 60 seconds. It can be modified to better suite needs. Note that the larger the Dashboard, the more frequent the refresh, the larger the possible impact on resource usage and performance of the web UI.

Support recommendation, unless polling many items at 1 minute rates, is to set the refresh rate to 5 minutes or more, to match standard polling rates.

Environment

All supported Performance Management releases

Cause

Auto-Refresh rate at 60 seconds doesn't always allow enough time for Views with large data sets to complete before another refresh is issued.

Resolution

To modify the existing value follow these steps. Note this change is global and will impact all Dashboards or users that use this feature.

  1. Open a browser tab and go to <PC_HOST>:8181/pc/center/admin/debug
    • Set your PC Host name and if necessary specify https and the necessary port (normally 8182 is recommended)
  2. In the Console Debug Tools section, select the Global Attributes name/link.
  3. Find the entry for "Page.Autorefresh.Seconds" where we'll see the 60 second default currently set.
  4. Modify the value, in seconds, to the target value. For example if 5 minutes, set it to 300 seconds.
  5. At the top or bottom of the page select the Update button.
  6. After the page refreshes confirm the change is still set.

The Auto-Refresh option for a given Dashboard, when enabled, should now only work on the set time frame.
