Agile Designer 2.10 license error 262- license already activated

Issue/Introduction

I have received a new license, but when I try to activate it, I am receiving the following error message: 
Importing CmActLicense failed: The CmActLicense was already activated on this computer. It can be activated only once, Error 262. 

I am using these instructions to activate license: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=10809 
After I import the new license file and click 'Commit', I receive the error message.

Cause

This error message means that you already activated this license either on this computer or another. 

If you are trying to apply the same license key as a colleague, and the license is not a concurrent license type, then you may receive this error message.

You may receive this error if you saw a 'License almost expired' message when launching ARD, then tried to preventatively apply a new license. In that case, ARD is still reading your old license because it is not yet expired and thinks the new license you are trying to apply is a duplicate.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you will need to first delete the old license, re-import your license container, and then apply the new license again.

Note: It is highly recommended you upgrade to the latest release of ARD. As of October 21, 2022 ARD 2.10 will be officially End of Service, and no longer supported by Broadcom, unless you purchase extended support.
