Resolution

DrNimbus / Dr.Nimbus / Dr. Nimbus is a useful tool to analyze or troubleshoot QOS, Alarm and any other type of UIM messages flow that is posted to the DX UIM message bus (NimBUS).

Steps to Use DrNimbus:

1. Go to any hub or robot with IM (Infrastructure Management) installed.

2. Login to the Infrastructure Manager as administrator

3. Select Start->All Programs-> Nimsoft Monitoring-> Tools -> DrNimBUS

4. Select the 'Message Sniffer' icon (second icon from the left side of the tool bar in of DrNimBUS)

5. Using the drop-down window, select the hub from where you would like to view the messages/alarms

6. Enter one or more filters for the QOS, alarms, probe_discovery or other messages you're looking to view. Filters include message Subject, Source (ip address), Robot, and probe.

e.g., probe name, and/or Message Subject, e.g., QOS_MESSAGE, alarm etc., and make sure you select the 'Show header' option

7. Press the Green arrow to start the Message sniffer (it may take some time for the data to populate in the window).

8. If you add a new filter, you can click the red button to stop the messages from populating and then click the wastebasket to delete all of the current messages.

9. Then press the Green arrow to start the Message sniffer again.

10. In a few minutes you should see QoS/alarm data flowing.

Note that another useful window is "View Message Statistics" to see what hubs/robots are generating the most QoS data/alarms in real time. It shows percentage of traffic on the NimBUS as well.

Note also that if you cannot reach/don't see the hub displayed from which you want to examine alarms, try logging in and running DrNimBUS from the Primary Hub, then select the hub in the drop-down from there.
