Events are the event messages you see in the Messages window in the alarm sub-console in the Infrastructure Manager and you can RT-click to Show Trace. Show Messages/trace displays info about Infrastructure Manager/NMS infrastructure events.
The status bar flashes pink (or light red) when the 'Hold Events' a.k.a the 'stop light' button, is enabled. This gets triggered automatically when UIM/Nimsoft Infrastructure Manager alarm subconsole client application receives a certain number of events within a set time frame (default is 200) which is within 10 seconds.
Since the default was set lower in earlier versions, it might be set lower on some of your hosts, as an upgrade doesn't change the existing default.
This is related to 'hold events' functionality. The 'Hold events' functionality occurs when a lot of infrastructure events are generated. Holding the events will prevent IM from freezing up if too many of these events are generated at the same time. The purpose of this is to stop the IM from becoming unresponsive for a given period.

"The status bar blinks red/pink when ‘Hold Events’ button is enabled. This gets triggered automatically when the alarm subconsole receives a certain number of Events within a set time frame (the default is 200 events/10 seconds)." You can change the value of this setting via the Windows registry.
Enter regedit to open the Windows registry on the machine running the Infrastructure Manager (IM).
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nimbus Software\NimBUS Manager\Options\IgnoreNimEventsCount
...and change it to a number you find more appropriate rather than 200.
If that doesn't eliminate the problem, make sure you have un-clicked/deselected the 'Hold Events' button/icon on the top of the Infrastructure Manager window and the pink flashing bar will be eliminated. It can be a little confusing since both Hold buttons (Hold Events versus Hold Alarms) seem to appear alike but one is for alarms towards the bottom of the IM window - 'red light' illuminated in icon, and the other is for Events (messages) - 'yellow light' illuminated in icon.
