Issue/Introduction

The following error is seen when starting the SpectroSERVER on Linux:

May 12 10:14:03 ERROR TRACE at CsCorbaMgr.cc(863): Exception: CORBA::NO_PERMISSION

Explanation: Borland Enterprise Server license violation[1022]: unable to open license.ini file.

Minor: 1330446336

Completion Status: NO

minor code 1330446336

Environment

Release: Any version installed on Linux
Component:

Cause

Spectrum unable to find or open the $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/license/license.ini file

Resolution

Check the following:

1. Ensure the $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/license/license.ini file exists. If not, copy one from another Spectrum system of the same version and patch install (or open a case with CA Support if you do not have another system to use).

2. Check the permissions on the $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/license/license.ini file. The owner and group owner should be the same as the user that owns the Spectrum install. Permissions should be r/w for the owner and read for the group. Similar to the following:

-rw-r----- 1 spectrum spectrum 79 Aug  3 07:17 ./bin/VBNS/license/license.ini

3. Ensure the BES_LIC_DIR parameter in the /opt/SPECTRUM/spectrum80.env file is set to the $SPECROOT/bin/VBNS/license directory

4.  Once the above has been resolved, restart the processd.
