 - 13% faster in elapsed time
 - 17% less MIPS
 - 19% less CPU time
 - 50% Reduction in Allocate elapsed time
(The tests were done in a lab environment using streams of 11,000 IDCAMS allocations.

One caution about PLSOPT80 is this:
 
If PLSOPT80 (Y) is specified and the ACTIVATE IODF command is entered, this could create
EDT problems.  If this occurs, enter the command:  F VAM,REFRESH
...to rebuild the internal EDT table and be in synch with the new EDT just changed.
