The acronym stands for Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection. This term does not refer to a particular Microsoft product or service. It is a term that is used within the context of the Portal to refer to capabilities made available through the Portal through a combination of different Microsoft technologies.

It is through these MSRDC facilities that the portal is capable of letting you remotely run desktop applications (that are not installed on the machine where your browser is running).
