Issue/Introduction
What considerations are there for migrating from an older relesae of TPX to a newer one?
Resolution
Considerations are as follows:
VSAM files beginning with TPX 4.0 are upwardly compatible and do not require any conversion programs.
Use the file allocations from the new TPX as delivered in the install.
Make a backup of your old TPX VSAM files.
REPRO the old TPX backups into the new allocated files.
If migrating from a release prior to TPX 4.0, run COPYSAMT (refer to the INSTALL library, member COPYSAMT).
If migrating from a release prior to TPX 4.0, and migrating the TPX MAILFILE, refer to the INSTALL GUIDE MESSAGE FILE to MAIL FILE Migration (a process is provided to convert the flat MSG file to a VSAM MAIL file).
Verify that LOADLIB is APF authorized.
Run RESET INTEGRITY (refer to the SAMPLIB library, member BATCHINI)
Migrate any custom ACLs to the new ACL library.
Migrate any custom PANEL libraries to the new PANEL library.
Re-assemble any custom user exits against the new libraries.
Modify new TPX startup PROC symbolics to refer to tables from migrated files (for example, SMRT/ACT/etc.).
