Resolution

At the end of initial portal configuration, you will have a collection of methods automatically populated for you. The type of method that you would use to invoke the Brocade element manager on discovered switches is automatically populated for you.

You can typically find these populated methods in the knowledge tree under BrightStor Portal Knowledge. For example, the Brocade Switch element manager can be found under:

     Monitor
          Switches
               Brocade
                    <switch name>
                         Brocade Switch

If you want to manually create your own method on the tree to invoke an element manager, use the following procedure.

  1. Click the Knowledge button located at the top middle of the BrightStor Portal.
  2. Navigate to the location in the BrightStor Portal knowledge tree where you want to add the method.
  3. Click Publish File (on the menu bar).

  4. To create a method to invoke a Brocade element manager, set the fields as follows:

    Publisher: Use the default setting of Standard. (This field is in the top right corner of the page.)

    Content: In this field you specify where the content should come from. To invoke a Brocade element manager, specify: http://<name-or-IP-Address_of_the_Brocade_Switch>.

    Title: Specify the name to be associated with this method, as you would like it to appear in the knowledge tree.

    Assign to Workgroup: Specify the name of the portal workgroup that this new method should belong to. Members of that portal workgroup will have access to this method.
