What are the procedures for proper MSRDC installation and usage?

Resolution

To access a remote machine through MSRDC, a web client has to be downloaded to the user's machine. The BrightStor portal has a mechanism that insures delivery of a proper client upon initial access. Certain settings must be in place before this can happen.

1. Certain browser settings have to be enabled to properly install the web-based MSRDC client.
   1. The following ActiveX controls have to be set to prompt or enable:
      1. Download Signed ActiveX controls.
      2. Download Unsigned ActiveX controls.
      3. Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe.
      4. Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
      5. Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting.

• The miscellaneous option "Access data sources across the domains" has to be enabled.
• After the proper browser settings are enabled, the web-based MSRDC installation and access will proceed:
  1. The user is prompted to install a cab file containing the MSRDC client.
  2. The user is prompted to run ActiveX control initializing the session.
     
     
     
     
  3. The login screen of the target node is displayed:
     
     
     
     
  4. Upon authenticating, the user can log in and access the desired application.
