Issue/Introduction

What causes the following messages:

IST1020I INSUFFICIENT STORAGE-DATA SPACE ISTxxxxx FULL
IST264I Required resource unavailable

Environment

XCOM™ Data Transport® for z/VSE

Cause

There is insufficient storage data space (DSPACE) either for the XCOM Data Transport server or the individual transfer jobs.

Resolution

If you are doing TYPE=SCHEDULE transfers, then the transfers are executed by the server, and you should increase the DSPACE on the server to 6M or 8M.

For TYPE=EXECUTE transfers, issue a QUERY DSPACE to see what DSPACE is set to. Specify a minimum of DSPACE=2M on the exec of the transfer JCL.

Alternatively, you may be able to specify DFSIZE of 2M on the SYSDEF to avoid changing all the TYPE=EXECUTE jobs.

An upgrade to a new version of z/VSE can require more DSPACE.
