Issue/Introduction

Use xcomd -s except in an emergency situation.

Environment

XCOM™ Data Transport® for UNIX/Linux PC

Resolution

  1. In an emergency, use xcomd -cy. This will bring down xcomd immediately - no orderly shutdown.
  2. If you do use xcomd -cy, we recommend that you delete the queue and the xcom.tid file because of the possibility of corruption when you shut XCOM down when these files are open.
  3. Delete the queue by using xcomqm -Rf*. This will delete the queue and any accompanying trace files.
  4. Check the /usr/spool/xcom/Q (var/spool/xcom on HP) directory and manually remove any remaining files.
  5. Confirm that the xcom.tid file in the /usr/spool/xcom/config directory has a 6 digit, non-zero number in it. If it does not, edit it so that it does or delete it. This file holds the next transfer id number.
