Disk™ Backup and Restore BACKUPCC is essentially DFDSS DUMP CC -- processing data sets with Concurrent Copy capability (or Snapshot if source volume is a RAMAC Virtual Array). Some of the considerations are listed below.
Release: Disk™ Backup and Restore
Before the backup process can begin, a synchronization point must be established to ensure the integrity of the data being backed up.
To create a synchronization point, follow these five steps:
1.Create and/or verify that the DSCL command stream with the action command BACKUPCC is ready for execution.
2. The online system that is targeted for BACKUPCC must be quiesced. This ensures that all data set I/O buffers are written to DASD.
3. Execute the BACKUPCC job created in step 1.
4. Verify that the INITIALIZATION COMPLETE message issued from ADSDI106 was sent to the SYSLOG. This message indicates to the online administrator that it is now safe to resume online processing.
5. Restart the online system.
