SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

What should be checked first if Sysview for Db2 for z/OS (IDB2) first when the PC Owner or Data Collector started tasks fail to start?

Resolution

If the PC Owner started task fails, remember that each PC Owner task must have a unique PCSSID.
NOTE: Avoid using a PCSSID that is equal to any existing subsystem SSID. This is because the PC task dynamically creates PCSSID as a MVS SSID.

If your Data Collector initiates and then immediately terminates, check the following scenarios:

  1. MONITOR1, MONITOR2, DISPLAY and TRACE must be granted to the userid associated with the Data Collector.
  • Check for messages indicating that a TRACE is already active such as:
MON TRACE ALREADY ACTIVE, TRACE NUMBER 04
! DSNWVCM1 '-START TRACE' ABNORMAL COMPLETION

11:25:13 DATA COLLECTOR DISCONNECTED FROM DB2 SUBSYSTEM ssid

In this case, stop the active trace, and then restart the IDB2 Data Collector.
