Issue/Introduction

The CleverPath Reporter Administrator Interface (AI) returns an Oracle connection error message when creating a MDL file:

"ORACLE interface (function 'olog')"

End of Life March 2012

Environment

Release:
Component: CVPRPT

Resolution

This connection error occurs when the "Connect to database" button is triggered.

The AI is relying on the ORACLE_HOME setting. In order to solve the issue, check your ORACLE_HOME setting in the following registry entry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\]

There might be more then one ORACLE_HOME variable set because Oracle has been installed more then once. In this case Oracle itself might be able to establish a valid connection via SQLPLUS but CleverPath Reporter would fail to connect.

The reason for this might be that CleverPath Reporter picks up the first ORACLE_HOME entry from the Registry to establish the database connection and this ORACLE_HOME variable may no longer be valid.

In order to solve this issue, check in the Registry to verify that the ORACLE_HOME settings are valid and delete any unused ORACLE_HOME values from the Registry.

Please proceed with caution when updating the Registry and ensure you have an adequate backup.
