VTAM Sense Code 800A 0000 with XCOM for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

This is not a problem with XCOM; it is a IBM VTAM protocol error.

Environment

• XCOM™ Data Transport® for z/OS
• IBM VTAM

Cause

This VTAM sense code indicates that the PIU (Path Information Units) is too long. 

Resolution

The problem may have been created when a large value for RUSIZE was specified and the VTAM and NCP buffers are not large enough.

The workaround is to reduce the value for XCOM RUSIZE parameter specified in the destination member for the partner. The permanent fix is to increase the size of these fields in the "BUILD" portion of the NCP definition. It may also be necessary to update the MAXDATA parameter.
