Issue/Introduction

The following messages are displayed:

-XCOM-E-ALLOCATE_FAIL, 'ALLOCATE' verb failed. Reason follows.
Received TXPI error:203, reason:0xffff

A CA-XCOM trace shows:

CATOTCP.C(1195): GetLocalId
CATOTCP.C(1216): gethostname: xxxxxxxxx

which passes xxxxxxxxx to the gethostbyname() function which returned:

CATOTCP.C(1234): Error 203
CATOTCP.C(1234): Txpi 203: Gethostbyname error return value = 65535

This shows that the problem was generated by an error returned by the gethostbyname() function.

Resolution:

Issue the VMS show command to display the hostname and domain name. Compare the results to the name (xxxxxxxxx) found in the trace.

Correct the hostname and domain name in the database file:

SYS$SYSDEVICE:[VMS$COMMON.SYSEXE]TCPIP$CONFIGURATION.DAT
