Can other utilities be used to backup or move View databases?

Resolution

The use of DFDSS and FDR to move or copy the extents of the View index and databases is acceptable if and ONLY when the devices are the same (mod3 on the old database and mod3 on the new database).

If you are going to use UNLIKE devices (mod 3 on the old database to mod 9 on the new database), then it is recommended that you use the View utilities SARDBASE UNLOAD/LOAD or COPY to move your database. Copying the database using FDR or DFDSS to unlike devices will render the database unusable.
