Issue/Introduction

When performing a Modify Group task in Identity Manager, you may notice that the BLTHContext::getGroupAdmins() method returns incorrect values. Additions, deletions, and new current values in the ResultsContainer object are not accurately captured, leading to issues where administrators cannot properly validate group modifications.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5

Cause

The BLTHContext::getGroupAdmins() method does not correctly track changes (additions, deletions, or updates) to the ResultsContainer during the task execution, causing the ResultsContainer object to return zeroed-out or stale data.

Resolution

To ensure group administration tasks function as expected, do not rely on BLTHContext::getGroupAdmins() for complex modification logic. Instead, use the GroupGroupsTabHandler class provided in the ims.jar file:

  1. Review the existing custom Business Logic Task Handler (BLTH) code.
  2. Replace the BLTHContext::getGroupAdmins() implementation with the logic provided by the GroupGroupsTabHandler class.
  3. Recompile your custom handler package.
  4. Redeploy the ims.jar or your updated component to the Identity Manager environment.
  5. Restart the application server to apply the changes.
