Issue/Introduction

Description:

I am trying to implement VM:Backup DASDtapes and have run into a problem. In the VMBACKUP CONFIG file, I have defined TAPEDISK records, TAPEPOOL records and SUPERPOOL records.

Example:

TAPEDISK 101 DSK101
TAPEDISK 102 DSK102
TAPEDISK 103 DSK103 TAPEPOOL DSKTAP01 MEDIA DASD 101 2400 HOLD
TAPEPOOL DSKTAP02 MEDIA DASD 102 2400 HOLD
TAPEPOOL DSKTAP03 MEDIA DASD 103 2400 HOLD SUPERPOOL DSKTAP01 DSKTAP02 DSKTAP03

I am now trying to run a WEEKLY full backup and am receiving the following message: 09:32:25 VMBVAS0647E No more volumes can be allocated from the resource pools
in superpool DSKTAP01.

What would cause the VMBVAS0647E error?

Solution:

You have to set up TAPEPOOL files on VM:Backup's POOLDISK disk (1C0);

DSKTAP01 TAPEPOOL
DSKTAP02 TAPEPOOL
DSKTAP03 TAPEPOOL

and you and have you add tape volsers to each pool.
