Issue/Introduction

When trying to activate a new offline license in CodeMeter Control Center, I am receiving the following error message:
Importing CmActLicense failed. An internal error occurred. Error 260

Cause

If you are trying to apply a license without the license container present or if you are applying a license to wrong license container, you will receive this error message.

Similar error message for online licenses: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=4408

Environment

Release : 2.10+

Component : CA Agile Requirements Designer

Resolution

Check to see if you have the AgileDesigner license container in CodeMeter Control Center (CC)

You will need to launch the CodemMeter Control Center application and verify if there is a license container for CodeMeter, and if there is, what type of container is present. Look under the 'License' tab to see what license container are present. You may see:

  • Nothing listed - meaning you will need to import the AgileDesigner license file (discussed later)
  • A container with the name '32767-10305' is an empty (non-active) license container
  • A container with the name similar to '128-1234567' is an active license container. Depending on how your wibuCmRaC offline request file was generated, you may need to delete this container and import a fresh empty AgileDesigner license container.
  • Any other listed containers are likely invalid container and should be deleted.

Launch the CodeMeter Control Center

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin.
  2. Locate 'CodeMeterCC.exe', right-click, and choose 'Run as administrator'.
  3. In the CodeMeter Control Center window, check under the 'License' tab.
    • If you are missing a license container, you will see nothing listed.

What to do if you find you have invalid containers

If you have a license container, but it is something like 'AgileDesignerUnb', 'AgileDesigner-Trial', or 'AgileDesigner-Offline', then this is incorrect. You will need to delete this license container, import the correct one (AgileDesigner), and then apply an offline license.

What to do if find you have an existing active '128-xxxxxxx' license container

If you have an existing, active license container (beginning with 128-), there are two possible options you have.

  • Delete the existing container, import an empty AgileDesiner container, and import the new license file. You may want to choose this option if you have already received a new offline license file from the Broadcom License team, and you aren't sure how the wibuCmRaC file was generated. If by chance the offline license file matches the existing license container (they both have the same 128-xxxxxxx number), then you should try the update option.
  • Update the existing license container, The direction for updating an existing license container can be found at https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=197532
