Issue/Introduction

Desription:

When installing or upgrading CA Audit or CA Security Command Center, you receive Error -1603: Fatal error during installation

Solution:

The 1603 error is usually due to a configuration conflict between the Microsoft Windows Installer package that CA Audit uses and a setting on the computer you are installing to. You can find information on error 1603 at Microsoft?s web link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834484

The most common reason to get this error during a CA Audit or Security Command Center installation/upgrade is due to the user account being used. The account being used for the installation does not have full and proper permissions to handle the installation.

If you are not using the system Administrator account; you need to verify that the account being used for the installation/upgrade has the full control and permissions required to access the Audit install/upgrade folder.

You can compare your installation account to the system Administrator account to verify/determine the necessary permissions to eliminate this error.
