Issue/Introduction

What tasks and programs need to be defined to IDMS internal security when using Performance Monitor? How can I accomplish this task?

Receiving error messages, DC021102 Security violation on resource pmwndrvr, or DC021101 resource not defined for pmwndrv

Resolution

The CA IDMS Performance Monitor product consists of three components: Realtime Monitor (task code PMRM), Interval Monitor (PMIM) and Application Monitor (PMAM). Application Monitor also contains a Billing component (task code PMBILL).

These tasks and programs can be secured either externally or internally. This article will only describe IDMS internal security for the Performance Monitor tasks and programs.

These tasks are associated with the following programs:

TASK PROGRAM
  ---- -------
PMAM PMAMINIT
PMRM PMRTINIT
PMIM PMIMINIT
PMBILL PMAMBILL
PMWNSAVE PMWNCIDD
PMWNDRVR PMWNCIDD
  1. In the SYSTEM dictionary, using OCF, create/modify a resource category to be used with the Performance Monitor tasks and programs. Grant EXECUTE on this Category to all who should be allowed5 to execute the PERFMON tasks or grant to PUBLIC if they are to be unsecured. For example, the resource category is called PERFTASK and has been added to the group PERFUSER.

  2. Add the listed tasks and programs to the category, PERFTASK, that was granted to the group PERFUSER or PUBLIC if the tasks are to be unsecured.
