RC/Update for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

How do I display more table data on screen when browsing or editing?

RC/Update, Edit (RC/Edit) or Browse (RC/Browse) will display more than 80 columns in width on screen if some emulator and ISPF settings are adjusted. This will allow a user to see a wider screen of data returned from a table.

Note that the change to 132 column display is not available in any other of the DB2 tools and only in RCU Browse and Edit.
It reverts back to 80 column display upon re-entry to previous screens.

Environment

Release: R20
Component: RCU

Resolution

Change your 3270 emulator to use IBM-3279-5-E . You will see 132 bytes in width. This only happens on the data display screen when in RC/Update, RC/Browse or RC/Edit in Column Mode.

Example Emulator settings. These will change the terminal type to a format that can display a wide screen up to 132 columns.

EmulatorTerminal TypeModel ID
TPXIBM-3279-5-En/a
ReflectionIBM 3270 TerminalModel 5 27x132 Extended

ISPF Options: These will complement the wide screen used by the emulator by giving ISPF the correct terminal type and that it will be displaying data.

ISPF,
ISPF PARMS,

SCREEN FORMAT to "1" for DATA.
