Issue/Introduction

Description:

The error message "Missing iSQL.exe" is received when attempting to install the ISS SiteProtector iRecorder.

Solution:

There are several reasons for the error "Missing iSQL.exe" message. Here are several reasons this error may appear.

  1. The iSQL.exe executable cannot be found in the Microsoft SQL ...\SQL\Bin directory.

This can be caused because the SQL\Bin is not part of the Environmental Path Statement or if the file is not there. This file is included with the Additional Database Tools. Therefore, you may need to rerun the MS SQL install and select Additional Database Tools as part of the installation.

  2. You are using Microsoft SQL Server version 2005. Microsoft has changed the name of the executable. Starting with Microsoft SQL Server version 2005 the name of the executable is now named Sqlcmd.exe. Currently, the ISS SiteProtector iRecorder does not support Microsoft SQL Server Version 2005.
