Issue/Introduction

Description:

Remote Monitoring method of communication and its respective port depends on the operating environment being monitored.
For more information about implementing Remote Monitoring, see its online help, or the chapter "Monitoring Your Enterprise" in the CA NSM Administration Guide, which can be found on the product media, or online at: https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/DocumentationResults?productID=130639&releaseID=ALL&languageID=ENU&actionID=2

Solution:

Remote Monitoring uses the following methods of communication and the respective port:

Resource Type Method
IP Uses ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)

UNIX Uses either the remote shell (rsh) or the secure shell (ssh)

Windows Uses the RPC (Remote Procedure Call) technology native to Windows
(installed by default) to gather data that is available by this mechanism

The default port numbers:
SSH: TCP 22
RSH: TCP 514
RPC: 135

Note: ICMP should be unblocked in both directions.
