Issue/Introduction

Description:

Message XCOME0780E Txpi 224: gethostname error return value = 1117 when starting the XCOM task on z/VSE

Solution:

If message XCOME0780E Txpi 224: gethostname error return value = 1117 is received during the startup of XCOM you will want to review the value for ID= in your TCP/IP startup JCL.

If the value of ID= is other than 00 then you will need to:

  1. add // OPTION SYSPARM='nn' to your XCOM startup JCL
  2. specify the INIT= parameter on your PARM card (e.g. // EXEC IPNET,PARM='ID=52,INIT=IPINIT52')

Once you have made the change(s) the XCOM TCP/IP listener will start successfully.

For details on the parameter ID= refer to the TCP/IP for VSE Installation Guide. This parameters sets the two-digit identifier of SYSID and the default is 00
