Issue/Introduction

In Identity Manager and Governance environments, Risk Enabled Objects (REOs) follow an automated approval process. If a Risk Evaluation process is initiated without valid approvers assigned, the system may fail to unlock specific fields or return error codes.

This article addresses the BPM-0534 error and the conditions required for successful field unlocking during evaluation.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x

Cause

The issue occurs when a Risk Evaluation is set to "Completed" but the mandatory "to be approved by" attribute is empty.

The workflow engine requires at least one valid resource assigned to the approver attribute to initiate the unlock sequence.

  • Error Message: BPM-0534: No resources selected for attribute(s): rcm_bo_risk.approvers
  • A "Yellow Warning" icon appears in the process tab.
  • Data fields remain locked or uneditable after a risk evaluation status is set to "Completed."
  • The approval process (e.g., rcm_risk_bo_evaluation_approval) fails to progress.

Resolution

To resolve field locking issues and BPM-0534 errors, ensure that every Risk Evaluation has a defined approver before finalizing the evaluation planning.

  1. Assign Approvers:
    • Navigate to the specific REO (e.g., Business Objective).
    • Go to the Risks section and open the relevant risk instance.
    • On the Evaluation Planning subpage, locate the 'to be approved by' attribute.
    • Assign at least one valid resource/user to this field before saving.
  2. Verify Process Status:
    • Ensure the appropriate approval process for your object (e.g., rcm_risk_bo_evaluation_approval) is validated and Active.
    • Check the Process Tab to confirm the workflow kicked off automatically after the status was set to "Completed."
  3. Handling Evaluations without Approvers:
    • If an evaluation was saved without approvers and the fields are stuck, navigate to the Risk List page.
    • Select the record and click the Delete icon to remove the invalid evaluation, then create a new evaluation with the approver field populated.
