What is the benefit of using the NDT for CPF definitions?
NDT is the Node Descriptor Table.
CPF is the Command Propagation Facility.
The recommendation is to have your CPF definitions in the NDT. The advantage to using the NDT is it can be refreshed without having to recycle the Top Secret Address Space. And CPF node definitions can be created or modified in the NDT record at any time after Top Secret starts.
You can use the CPF related TSS MODIFY commands to refresh CPF after making a change to the NDT:
TSS MODIFY CPFNODE(nodename=STOP)
TSS MODIFY CPFNODE(nodename=START)
TSS MODIFY CPFNODE(nodename=REFRESH)
