Issue/Introduction

Description

This document explains how you can generate a new password and authorization code on your Unix and Linux machines.

Solution

In order to generate a new password and authorization code on your Unix and Linux machines, please run the following steps:

  1. Choose an agent password

  2. Generate an Authorization code by running:
    $PCM_SECURITY/PCM/mkcode
where $PCM_SECURITY is the path to your eTrust Policy Compliance installation (/usr/cai, by default).

  3. Install the resulting authorization code by editing the agent configuration files:
($PCM_SECURITY/PCM/Config and etc/PCM.cf) and changing the value in quotes, on the authcode line, to the new authorization code.

NOTE: You cannot set the agent password for a UNIX or Linux agent using the PCMCli set agentpwd command.
