Scheduler Job Management

Issue/Introduction

When CA Scheduler JM has been down for more than 24 hours, an AUTOSCAN is automatically performed when CA Scheduler JM is restarted. If you do not wish to have AUTOSCAN done at this time, and also need to suspend all job submissions, use the SKIPAUTO=YES and HOLDSUB=YES startup parameters when starting up CA Scheduler JM.

Environment

Release:
Component: SCHDMS

Resolution

S caschd,PRM='SKIPAUTO=YES,HOLDSUB=YES'

Use the above parameters when starting up the CA Scheduler started task to prevent new schedules and jobs from entering the active workload, and to suspend all job submissions. (SKIPAUTO and HOLDSUB do not have to be used together.) These parameters are not saved if CA Scheduler is shutdown or abends, therefore to reuse these options, you must specify them when starting CA Scheduler.

Later, to do a manual AUTOSCAN , enter MVS Modify command "F caschd,AUTO"

To resume all job submissions, use the CA Scheduler RELEASE SUBMIT command. This command can be executed from any CA Scheduler ISPF command line by entering "SCHD REL SUB", or from the MVS console by entering "F caschd,REL SUB".

SKIPAUTO=YES|NO is a startup parameter and is the only option to prevent an AUTOSCAN.

To suspend job submissions after CA Scheduler has started, use the HOLD SUBMIT tracking command. This command can be executed from any CA Scheduler ISPF command line by entering SCHD HOLD SUB, or from enter option "1;3;H1;4" from the CA Scheduler ISPF primary menu. To resume all job submissions, use the CA Scheduler RELEASE SUBMIT command.
