Issue/Introduction

Description

This document describes a procedure to use when a user cannot get past the View 11.0 Primary Panel, after receiving a "Invalid Index Value" or "Invalid Index Name" message, and that corresponding field appears to be blank and they are not able to enter anything in the field.

Solution

Here is a procedure to use when a user cannot get past the View 11.0 Primary Panel, after receiving a "Invalid Index Value" or "Invalid Index Name" message, and that corresponding field appears to be blank and/or they are not able to enter anything in the field:

  • Delete the user from the View database:

  • Issue the DEF USER command on the Primary Selection Panel.
  • From the UserID panel, note the user's settings.

  • From the UserID panel, or from use of SARBCH /DELETE USER=..., delete the user from View.

  • Have the user log on to View again, to re-establish their ID.

  • From the noted settings, change the user's settings accordingly.

After completing the above procedure, the user should be able to properly enter the index field.
