IIS config to access Service Desk URL with Server Hostname by hiding CAisd/pdmweb.exe

Issue/Introduction

How to access ServiceDesk web URL by entering only the server name instead of the complete URL as http://servername/CAisd/pdmweb.exe?

Environment

Service Desk Manager: All Supported versions

Resolution

1. Go to Start->All Programs->Administrative Tools ->Internet Information Services (Manager)
   
   
2. In IIS, expand web sites.
   
   
3. Right Click on Default Web Site ->Properties.
   
   
4. Under the Home Directory tab, check the option A redirection to a URL
   
   
5. In the Redirection URL field enter http://<example Service Desk servername>/CAisd/pdmweb.exe
   
   
6. Check the options a) The exact URL entered above and b) A directory below URL entered.
   
   
7. Click on Apply (see Figure 1).

8. Go to Documents tab.
   
   
9. Click on Add
   
   
10. Enter pdmweb.exe (see Figure 2):

11. Click on Apply and OK
    
    
12. Open the web browser and in the Address field enter http://server and it will redirect to Service Desk URL.
