Issue/Introduction

Description:

I have installed the WAM UI R12 SP1 CR02 on Windows 2003 with no errors, however I cannot register the Policy Server connection.

Every time I try to register the Policy Server Connection I get the following error:

"Failed to execute CreateUIConnectionEvent sucessfully. ERROR MESSAGE: Read SiteMinder Trusted Hosts FAILED".

<Please see attached file for image>

Figure 1

Solution:

The WAM UI uses a trusted host in order to communicate with the Policy Server.
When a connection is registered using the WAM UI, a trusted host is created in the Policy Store:

Figure 2

The above error is because the WAM UI is unable to create the trusted host in the policy server and therefore the WAM UI will fail to read it.

There are two possible causes for this error:

  1. The extended Policy Store (XPS) was not initialized.

    For more information about how to initialize the XPS please check the SiteMinder Installation guide chapters:

    Chapter 4: Installing the Policy Server onWindows Systems
    Chapter 5: Installing the Policy Server onUNIX Systems

  2. The Policy Server did not load the XPS information.

    Be sure that the Policy Server has loaded the XPS, in the policy server log you should be able to see the following lines:
    <- Begin[1680/2332][Wed Feb 25 2009 16:04:47][CA.XPS:XPSIO007][INFO] 2 Parameter(s) loaded from Policy Store, 3 total.[1680/2332][Wed Feb 25 2009 16:04:53][CA.XPS:XPSIO008][INFO] 1327 object(s) loaded from the Policy Store.[1680/2332][Wed Feb 25 2009 16:04:53][CA.XPS:XPSIO026][INFO] Policy Store IDis "d5e47172-f2c8-4d70-9568-9e6540242acc".-> End
    When the policy store did not load data you will see:
    <- Begin[3522/16][Tue Dec 23 2008 18:33:10][CA.XPS:XPSIO007][INFO] 0 Parameter(s) loaded from Policy Store, 0 total.[3522/16][Tue Dec 23 2008 18:33:10][CA.XPS:LDAP0006][WARN] No policy data found[3522/16][Tue Dec 23 2008 18:33:10][CA.XPS:XPSIO008][INFO] 0 object(s) loaded from the Policy Store.[3522/16][Tue Dec 23 2008 18:33:10][CA.XPS:LDAP0014][ERROR] Error occurred during "Modify" for"xpsParameter=CA.XPS::$PolicyStoreID,ou=XPS,ou=policysvr4,ou=siteminder,ou=netegrity,o=ca,c=com", text: Object class violation[3522/16][Tue Dec 23 2008 18:33:10][CA.XPS:XPSIO024][ERROR] Save Policy Store ID failed.-> End
