Can I install an AutoSys r11 Client on a machine with an existing AutoSys r4.5x Client? How?

Issue/Introduction

The need may arise to have co-existing r11 and r4.5x AutoSys clients. This can be done and the considerations for this are the following:

1. When specifying the AUTOTREE path during the installation, it must be a different path than the AUTOTREE for the existing AutoSys r4.5
   
   
2. Common components used by AutoSys r4.5 or r4.5.1 are located in /opt/CA/CAlib. The AutoSys r11 installation will move these to /opt/CA/SharedComponents and create a symlink from /opt/CA/CAlib
   
   
3. The auto.profile will be updated by the r11 installation. It is recommended to backup the existing auto.profile from r4.5. When the r11 auto.profile is created, it will be necessary to compare the old and new and copy any variables to create a single auto.profile that works for both releases. This should be fairly simple. If in doubt contact ca technical support.
