While working in an application over TPX users are suddenly thrown back to VTAM

Issue/Introduction

Users working in an application are suddenly thrown back to VTAM. The TPXlog shows TPXL0085 message with a sensecode of 20030000.

Solution:

We have seen this error in conjunction with some releases of IBM Personal Communication Emulation.

The TPXlog will show:

TPXL0085 09/08/08.252 16:10:53.05 RPL ERROR MANAGEMENT ROUTINE ENTERED

          SENSE CODE=20030000 MEANING=BRACKET ERROR
          ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN: STATUS RESET
                               CLEAR/SDT
                               INPUT CHAIN WAS RESET
                               EVENT STORAGE PURGED

A possible solution is to apply IBM PCOMM APAR IC46489/IP22895 or upgrade to IBM PCOMM 5.8 service pack 2.
