Issue/Introduction

Description:

Customer has installed a new policy server and he is trying to log into the Admin Ui, however he tries to login to admin gui, error:"Could not log in error 3".

Environment:

  • SiteMinder Policy Server 6 SP5 CR06 on Solaris 10.

  • Sun One Ldap Directory 5.2 as Policy Store.

Solution:

Customer has other 2 policy server in his environment pointing to the same Policy Store.

The other 2 policy stores have the same encryption key, but the new one has been installed with different encryption key.

Customer is unable to log in in the new policy server because sensitive information is encrypted in the Policy Store using the encryption key and it is stored in <SiteMinderHomeDir>/bin/EncryptionKey.txt file.

As a workaround customer can copy over the encryption key file from one of the others policy servers to the new one (Note that this only will work as long as both policy servers are in the same OS and platform). Since the encryption key has changed you may need to re-enter credentials in the SiteMinder Management Console.
