Why the Assets are Grayed in DSM Explorer under All Computers?

Issue/Introduction

Some assets under All Computers are grayed out as shown in the screenshot below.

Solution:

The machines which are grayed out in the DSM Explorer are brought in to DSM using the SMS proxy agent. The SMS proxy agent uses a DSM plug-in to convert the SMS data to DSM Discovered data format.

It can be processed by DSM tools as well as by AMS (Asset Maintenance System) and UAI (Unicenter Asset Intelligence).

In the screenshot below, there is no Asset management agent installed and the Origin shows: Microsoft SMS (it clearly says that this asset is collected using the SMS adapter). The SMS Connector normalizes SMS data into CA understandable format (this is called Normalization) which is added to CA's MDB using standard APIs and processes. These assets are grayed out in the DSM Explorer.
