NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP

Issue/Introduction

The message:

NF5Z01 DB/DS: DYNAMIC/DDB STORAGE IS AT 80%

may sometimes appear in the SSI Log followed by the message:

NF5Z02 DB/DS: DYNAMIC/DDB STORAGE SHORTAGE RELIEVED.

When looking at the output from the '$$SYSPRO NMIPDIAG' command (or the 'SELFTEST' command), the 'Percentage of Use' is different from that seen in the SSI Log:

  IPDI52F9    Dynamic Database: Size = 512 MB  Used = 72%  High Used = 81%

  IPDI52F9    Synch   Database: Size = 12 MB   Used = 1%   High Used = 1%

  IPDI52F9    Trace   Database: Size = 128 MB  Used = 1%   High Used = 1%

Are there some parameters to adjust for this?

Solution:

Environment

Release: 12.2
Component: NetMaster for TCPIP

Resolution

Message 'NF5Z01' is a warning message indicating a threshold has been reached. In this case, it's the Packet Analyzer Dynamic Database and the threshold value is set by PADSWTPCT Packet Analyser parameter defined in SSIPARM member with a default of 80% within a range from 50 to 95 or NO.

Message 'NF5Z02' indicates the Packet Analyzer DataBase (DB) DataSpace (DS) storage has dropped below the threshold that produces 'NF5Z01' messages.

The size of the Packet Analyzer Dynamic DataBase is set via the PDYNDBSIZE parameter in SSIPARM. By default, it is set to 512MB and has a range from 8MB to 2047MB.

Additional Information

More information can be found, regarding the Packet Analyzer parameters, in the 'Packet Analyzer and SOLVE SSI' section of the "Netmaster® Shared Content Library 12.2".

Detailed statistics for Packet Analyzer Database can be collected issuing the command: ssis sh paddbstg level=4
